Air Caster Floor and Air Supply Requirements
Check the full moving route and compressed air supply before selecting air casters.
Air casters need a suitable sealed operating surface and a compressed air supply matched to the chosen system. Floor texture, joints, changes in level, load distribution and hose pressure loss affect performance. A floor material name or compressor nameplate alone cannot confirm that a route is suitable.
Will air casters work on my floor?
Smooth, sealed and level surfaces are generally more suitable for maintaining the air film. Check the actual condition of concrete, epoxy or steel plate throughout the route. Porous surfaces, damaged coatings, cracks and joints may need preparation or an engineered overlay.
| What to check | What to send | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Surface texture and sealing | Close-up photos and coating information | Air leakage and moving resistance |
| Joints, gaps and steps | Photos with measured widths and height changes | Cushion support and route continuity |
| Slopes and gradients | Gradient measurements and route plan | Movement control, restraint and stopping |
| Floor structural capacity | Available slab or raised-floor documentation | Support during movement and when parked |
How much compressed air do I need?
Use the requirements for the selected model and complete configuration. Confirm pressure and usable flow at the operating connection while the system is running. Long hoses, small fittings and shared plant demand can reduce the air available to the system. Pressure and flow are different requirements; a pressure reading alone does not establish supply adequacy.
Can I use air casters outdoors or across uneven floors?
Do not assume a standard system will operate on an outdoor or uneven route. Have the complete route reviewed, including joints, gradients, ground support and any proposed temporary surface. A different handling method may be more appropriate.
Pre-quotation checklist
- Load and support-point information.
- Floor and route photos, with measured gaps or changes in level.
- Available operating pressure and air flow, with units.
- Hose distance from the air connection and other simultaneous air demand.
- Requirements for movement control, stopping and parking.
