How to Choose an Air Caster System

A practical selection guide for load weight, support points, floor condition, air supply and moving routes.

Choose an air caster system by the load at each support point, the condition of the complete travel route and the available compressed air. Total weight alone is not enough. The final configuration must account for the centre of gravity, support geometry, clearances and the way movement is controlled.

Do you need modules, a complete set or a platform?

Solution Start here when Check before ordering
Modular air casters You have suitable structural support points beneath the equipment. Individual module rating, support locations, cushion type and connections.
Complete air caster system You need modules, air distribution and controls reviewed together. Included components, hose lengths, supply scope and available site air.
Custom transfer platform The load needs a designed supporting frame or integrated handling arrangement. Frame design, load distribution, control, restraint and route clearance.

How do I choose the load capacity?

Start with verified equipment weight and centre-of-gravity information. Loads are not necessarily shared equally by the modules. Ask for a configuration reviewed against the most heavily loaded support point, including any uncertainty and the intended operating conditions. Do not select a system by multiplying a module rating by the number of modules alone.

What information should I send?

  1. Equipment weight, dimensions and available drawings.
  2. Centre of gravity and permitted support points, if known.
  3. Floor photos showing texture, cracks, joints and transitions.
  4. Travel distance, turns, gradients and available clearance.
  5. Available air pressure and flow at the connection point.

What determines the quotation?

Module quantity and type, frame requirements, air distribution, drive and control arrangements, hose length, documentation and delivery destination affect the scope and price. A project review is needed before a reliable quotation can be issued.

Not sure about the specifications? Start with a photo and your approximate load. Mark unknown values as unknown; the first enquiry does not require a completed engineering specification.
